The Role
The Patent Engineer makes part of the international Intellectual Property Department of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique and shall:
- Collaborate with product- and project engineers/inventors in order to co-ordinate all IP-activities and to identify patentable inventions, to document and analyze patent proposals, formulate a filing strategy and be actively involved in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications
- Collaborate with a network of IP law firms around to world to optimze Atlas Copco's IP position as a global leader in the market
- Support product companies of the business areas Compressor Technique and Power Technique in setting up and rolling out IP policies
- Optimize Atlas Copco's freedom-to-operate by actively monitoring third party IP rights and formulate and implement IP strategies in view thereof
- Give trainings concerning IP to the employees of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique and Atlas Copco Power Technique
- Collaborate with the different IP teams within the Atlas Copco Group to look for optimization of the IP position of Atlas Copco

What we expect of you?
Master degree Engineering (Mechanics, Electronics, ICT, Chemistry), Physics or equal by experience- Experience in patent searching and analysis, drafting patent applications and/or replies to Office Actions is desired; experience in a patent firm or the patent department of a company is therefore an important plus
Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English- Being able to read and understand technical French and German
- Additional language knowledge is a plus
